Hallstatt Phototour – Part I Images

Recently a friend of mine and i visited Hallstatt, one of the most beautiful hotspots for photography in the world. Lots of tourists from all over the world come here to visit this small village for its old architecture and surroundings. Especially chinese people are very attracted by this place, they even built a copy of Hallstatt in china.

About Hallstatt

Hallstatt is located in Upper Austria, a village in the Salzkammergut, a region in Austria. It is located near the Hallstätter See (a lake).

Hallstatt is known for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times, and gave its name to the Hallstatt culture, a culture often linked to Celtic, Proto-Celtic, and pre-Illyrian peoples in Early Iron Age Europe, c.800–450 BC. Some of the earliest archaeological evidence for the Celts was found in Hallstatt.”

On this photo trip i took my A7II  + the Sigma 24mm 1.4 and the Minolta APO 100-300mm with me, also a tripod + monopod and a ND x1000 Filter.

Unfortunately the lighting situation was very harsh at that day, so we had sun, but also too much shadows from the mountains, so it was not easy getting our shots the way we wanted.

If you are planning to go to Hallstatt, its far better to visit it in summer, the sun is standing better, so there will be less shadows.

But lets have a look at my pictures, i think the Sony A7II worked well here, especially the Sigma 24mm with its fast 1.4 speed was very helpful on that day:

When your are visting Hallstatt, make shure you take a trip up the mountain with the funicular, the view up there is breathtaking

My old Minolta APO 100-300mm tele lens was used for the telephoto shots on a monopod, you can read my review for this lens here

You can spend quite a lot of time up there and also eat in the restaurant, but don´t forget to take shots down in the village as long there is enough light.
