This little Pancake Lens weighs only 72 gramms which makes it a perfect walkaround, streetphotography and video lens on a gimbal.

The buildquality is good, but the lens is not weathersealed.

It´s not a superfast lens like a 1.8 or 1.4 but it works for the most situations and as you can see in my video also in lowlight.

The autofocus is not the quickest in low light which can result in pumping, but in better and good light the autofocus works very good also for video.

I found this lens to be sharp beginning from 2.8, the difference in bokeh with 2.4 is very tiny, so i recommend using it in 2.8. It´s best sharpness is at F8.

So far i have not found any heavy distortion or chromatic aberrations and there is a lens profile which you can download for lightroom which helps on correction.

The lens has no stabilisation, but since it´s so lightweight and small this is not much of a problem, you can handhold this very still for quite a while especially on the small NX500, which does also a great ISO job in lowlight with its backlight illuminated sensor.

Now lets see some images, all shot handheld using 2.8

This little pancake lens is one of Samsungs prime gems, you can get it for an affordable price for around 300€ or less. It´s fast speed and very good sharpness makes it a very good choice to upgrade from the Kit Lens. The 16mm 2.4 is also very good on 4k Video too and for using it on a gimbal.
